About - Mesure et saveur du baroque et du classique

The Musical Society of Mauritius has a long and rich experience in the promotion of classical music to the island of Mauritius. After ‘Maxime Zecchini au Piano’ last February, it is bring to you ‘Mesure et Saveur du Baroque et du Classique’ with Véronique Zuël (Soprano) and Denis Lesage (Pianist). The concert will take place at La Maison d’Eureka, on the 6th and 8th of April.

Denis Lesage: The Anglo-Mauritian pianist Denis Lesage holds the Piano Gold Medal from the Rueil-Malmaison Regional Conservatory, a Paris-Sorbonne Master of Music and the State Diploma of Piano Teacher (Culture and Communication, France).
He excelled in the Professional Examination to the rank of Assistant Specialist of Artistic Education of French territorial collectivities.
During two concerts in Mauritius in 2006 – alongside Véronique Zuël-Bungaroo – he performed in solo and made the public discover ‘Simple Aveu’ of the great Mauritian composer and melodist Francis Thomé.
He demonstrated amazing writing skills with his two published poetry collections as well as literature and music books on the Mauritian artists Robert-Edward Hart and Francis Thomé, and a music article (Perlemuter and Chopin ) already published by Champion, Paris.

Veronique Zuël: Veronique Zuël, Mauritian soprano, performs on local and international stages. Her varied repertoire consists of lyrical roles, oratorios, “melodies”, ‘lieder’ and wedding songs. She is regularly invited to perform in concerts, festivals and other prestigious occasions.
She studies singing in England and is consequently chosen to play the following roles: Maria (Westside story) – La comtesse, Suzanna (Les noces de Figaro) – Gilda (Rigoletto) – Mimi (La Bohème) – Norina ( Don Pasquale) – Adele (Die Fledermaus) – Micaëla (Carmen)…
With the help of Jean Bernard Thomas from Reunion Island, she improved her singing technique.
The Mauritian public has had the chance to hear her interpreting the main roles in the following: Rési (Valses de Vienne) – Mi (Pays du Sourire) – Leila (Pêcheurs de Perles) – Micaëla (Carmen) – Violetta (La Traviata) – Dido (Dido etAenae) – Eurydice (Orphée aux Enfers).
